The hidden cost of the fuel run
On paper, sending a laborer with a pickup and a transfer tank to fill up looks free. It isn't. Add up the wage-hours, the mileage and wear, the spillage, the theft and shrinkage that plague loose fuel handling, and the billable time a machine loses idling while it waits — and the "free" fuel run is one of the quiet margin-killers on a jobsite. On a multi-machine dirt job it can cost more per week than the delivery spread ever would.
What on-site fleet fueling does
On-site fleet fueling — also called wet hosing — sends a licensed fuel truck to your site to fill each machine directly, on a set cadence, so crews start every shift full. No card-locks, no transfer tanks sloshing around the yard, no dawn fuel runs. The iron stays where the work is.
Keep-full routes
The core product is the keep-full route. You tell us the fleet and the pace; we build a weekly or bi-weekly route and top everything off before it runs dry. Most active sites settle into a rhythm — a Monday-and-Thursday fill, say — and simply stop thinking about fuel. Because the truck is routed, standing accounts get tighter pricing than one-off fills.
Per-equipment ticketing = clean job costing
Every fill is metered and tagged to the specific machine or tank. That means your monthly statement can break fuel out by equipment ID — so you know the dozer burned X and the generator burned Y, and you can push those numbers straight to the job cost. For fleets that bill fuel back to projects or owners, this is the difference between an estimate and an auditable number.
Clear vs. off-road diesel across a mixed fleet
Most fleets run both: clear (road) diesel for anything plated that touches a public road, and off-road (dyed) diesel — tax-exempt — for non-highway equipment like excavators, dozers, and generators. We carry both and tag each fill to the right machine so you stay compliant. (Reminder: dyed diesel in a road-legal vehicle carries $10,000+ per-infraction penalties, so we verify application at setup.)
On-site tanks
If you'd rather feed a tank than chase machines, we can rent you a 250- or 500-gallon on-site tank with a pump and keep it full on the route. Your crew draws from the tank; we keep the tank topped.
What SolidSite does and doesn't do here
We self-deliver diesel in-zone across Greater Houston and the RGV, metered and ticketed. Gasoline for gas-powered equipment and any bulk/specialty load runs through licensed, HAZMAT-certified partners on the same ticket. We don't run a GPS telematics platform — your proof is the signed, metered ticket and photo documentation, which is what job costing and audits actually need.
